Board of Directors
SallyPort Watch is a non-governmental independent watchdog organization overseen by a Board of Directors. The Board establishes the mission, policies, and procedures that govern the oversight and advisory functions of the organization. The volunteer staff is managed by an Executive Director who oversees the day-to-day operations and reports to the Board of Directors.
Corporate and Tax Status
SallyPort Watch is registered as a domestic non-profit corporation in the State of New Mexico. SPW maintains Federal IRS 501(c)3
non-profit status. Donors can deduct contributions they make to SPW under IRS Section 170. SPW is also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Sections 2055, 2106, or 2522.
Contribution Acceptance Policy
SallyPort Watch accepts gifts from individuals and institutions that are committed to the principles of independent and objective oversight. We reserve the right to decline gifts and donations from individuals and institutions that advocate viewpoints or engage in activities that contradict these values.
SPW does not knowingly accept contributions from corporations, labor unions, any government, or anyone who stands to benefit financially from our work, in order to preserve our organizational independence and objectivity.
Oversight
Report on issues and concerns on matters impacting the economy, efficiency, and integrity of NMMI operations. Activities include investigations, audits, inspections, and evaluations including developing recommendations, when appropriate, to the NMMI Board of Regents, senior NMMI administrative officials, and State of New Mexico stakeholders. When appropriate, refer criminal matters to appropriate State or Federal law enforcement authorities.
Expert Advising
Provide independent and objective volunteer consulting to any member of the NMMI Board of Regents and senior NMMI administrators by a panel of experts with extensive experience in government oversight of public institutions. Activities include recommending best practices and educating interested stakeholders on the quality standards in oversight. Activities include advising SPW oversight staff on the performance of oversight functions.
Quality Standards
SallyPort Watch comports to Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and the Council of Inspectors General for Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) quality standards.
